Photography by David A Greenwood
Now residing in Scotland, David's passion for capturing landscape
images on film, has never been more evident.
Nowhere more, does the expression "The fleeting moment", describe the light
in such places as Glencoe, Glen Nevis and other areas of the Highlands. These
are the locations, together with other areas of Scotland watched by David's
careful eye.
Before his move to Scotland, David lived in the Midlands and travelled to various parts of the UK to capture landscape images from many diverse locations. A small selection of these images are to be found in the gallery.
Specialising in British landscapes for the past ten years, David has supplied many publishers of magazines, calendars, books and postcards, together with bringing to life the pages of tourist boards holiday brochures.
Many of the images on display are not commercially viable but are included for you to experience, enjoy and may-be have an insight into what David sees and tries to convey onto film.
All images are captured on Fuji Velvia or Provia stock film this, David believes, best captures the natural light and beauty of the landscape subject. David prefers to produce his work with his fully manual Mamiya 645 camera as he has total control of the composition and exposure. The reading taken, for the said exposure, is calculated with a hand-held Sekonic meter using incident light reading where possible. A Manfroto tripod is always used to ensure a sharp image every time.
"Sometimes" David says "the experience and anticipation, while sitting on a hill side up a magically quiet glen, waiting for that ray of light to burst through the ever-so angry cloud. can be so overwhelming and feel such a crime to commit to film, that I can't even view the wonder through my camera. I just sit and soak-up that 'Fleeting moment'".
